The cancellation of the highly anticipated Hasim Rahman Jr. vs Jake Paul showdown has sparked widespread outrage from boxing fans. Meanwhile, ‘Gold Blooded’ Rahman Jr. opened up about the New York State Athletic Commission’s involvement in the bout cancellation.

In an interview with FightHype, Rahman Jr. was asked about not making the weight for the fight. His promoter, Greg Cohen, replied, “We were required by the New York State Athletic Commission to send two pre-weigh-in weight checks. July 22nd and July 29th.”
Cohen added that at that time there was no stipulation on what he had to weigh. He continued, “And after the second one on July 29th, the commission came back and said that they were not comfortable having the fight at 200 pounds and that’s when they and that’s when they came up with the 204-pound requirement.”

Rahman Jr. also pitched in, saying, “Look at medicals and see how much I weighed. You can see I weighed over 220 pounds at the medical when the commission had us do physicals that morning.”
‘Gold Blooded’ mentioned that that was when he started training seriously for the fight, adding that his weight has been constantly coming down since the press conference.

There is no doubt that the ‘Problem Child‘ was disappointed at the cancellation of his fight. In fact, he took to social media to express his displeasure with Hasim Rahman Jr.

Paul tweeted he was devastated by the cancellation of both his fights. His previous fight with Tommy Fury was also canceled, but Tyron Woodley stepped in on short notice to save the day. ‘Problem Child’ added that his opponents were scared to face him in the ring and that they lacked professionalism.
Meanwhile, he also took the time to apologize to the other fighters on the card.
