Ryan Garcia last entered the ring in April this year, losing to the boxing sensation Gervonta Davis. Following the loss, things took a turn for the worse for the Los Angeles resident as his relationship with promoter Oscar De La Hoya deteriorated. However, ‘King Ry’ and De La Hoya have continued working together as he is going to face Oscar Duarte on December 2.

After the devastating loss, Garcia and De La Hoya got into a verbal altercation on X (formerly Twitter). Garcia accused De La Hoya of breaching their contract, which even resulted in a massive ongoing lawsuit. Previously, when the $200 million promoter Oscar De La Hoya was questioned about their relationship, he claimed things were getting better between them. However, Ryan’s recent remark during an interview regarding his upcoming fight suggests otherwise.

Later in the interview, Garcia explained that he was letting his lawyers handle the situation with Oscar De La Hoya. “I just kind of letting the lawyers handle all that,” said Garcia. He pointed to his upcoming fight as the reason behind him avoiding things with De La Hoya. “I got a fight coming up, you know. This guy’s tough, so that’s what I’ve been focused on,” Garcia told the reporter.

Oscar De La Hoya claims Garcia has a champion’s attitude

Despite their ongoing disagreement, Oscar De La Hoya seemed optimistic about his relationship with Garcia. Ryan has been trying to leave the promotional company, but Oscar filed a lawsuit to stop Garcia from doing that. It’s also worth mentioning that Canelo Alvarez faced a similar situation with De La Hoya and left the company.

However, ‘The Golden Boy’ is adamant about repairing their relationship and has supported Garcia in his upcoming fight. While appearing in an interview with DAZN, De La Hoya expressed his thoughts on Garcia and his next fight. “Well, he has a champion’s attitude. That’s exactly what he has. Ryan Garcia is very confident. His trainer has been doing wonders, and he can’t wait to showcase,” said the California born promoter.
