Jermell Charlo is yet to face Canelo Álvarez in an epic bout on 30 September 2023. The stage is set for a historic showdown as Canelo and Charlo meet to determine the true champion of the super middleweight division. But as the pre-fight rituals commenced with a press conference in Las Vegas, Charlo had something important to address. He was charged up and ready to drop some facts. But the question is, what led up to all this?

After defeating Brian Castano, Charlo moved up two weight classes for a shot at the undisputed Super Middleweight title. The title bout will kick off at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Showtime PPV. However, a remark from Timothy Bradley enraged Charlo, leading to his outburst against Bradley during the conference. The former boxer-turned- sports analyst Bradley predicted a hypothetical fight between Charlo and Terence Crawford.

Why did Jermell Charlo lash out at Timothy Bradley?

Recently, Bradley predicted that Terence Crawford would take down Charlo faster than he defeated Errol Spence Jr in July. In response to this comment, ‘Iron Man’ stated, “I think Tim Bradley got a lot of hate toward a lot of things. When you dare to be great right now, you can’t worry about what Tim Bradley is saying or how he thinks. He’s an ESPN analyst. He don’t even know sh!t about PBC boxing and what we possess over here. And that’s why Al got us. He signed us,” according to Boxing Scene.

Things did not end there. He added, “Oh well, people are going to have their thoughts and say what they want to say. I have to go back and live my life and try to be that guy,” explaining he can’t keep track of everything Bradley thinks. Moreover, Charlo emphasized that PBC is the place to be as it has entered into the big leagues. He added, “You see everybody, came over here now all of those other promoters are little boys now.” With just weeks left for the fight, how prepared is Jermell for his upcoming bout with Canelo?

Jermell Charlo’s attitude towards Canelo Álvarez

While Charlo had strong words for Bradley, he remained respectful towards ‘Cinnamon’. When asked about the reason behind it, Charlo explained, “I’m just me. I’m the same person that I am. I never change. I get respect when respect is given, too. I’m not going to be out here being stupid or irrational or dumb.”

He elaborates by saying, “If some motherf**** talking sh!t like Tony Harrison was and being all crazy, then you are going to get that other Mell.” He explains that promoting the fight doesn’t require unprofessional behavior since they are both undisputed fighters. Charlo ended the conversation by saying, “I’m always going to be passionate. I’ve always been the villain in boxing. If I’m the villain, I’m the villain.”
