The son of two weight division champs Nigel Benn was most likely to go head-to-head with Chris Eubank Jr. at 157 pounds earlier this month. The duo was all set to settle their intense rivalry at the O2 Arena in London. But the highly anticipated fight could not reach fruition, as Benn tested positive for taking performance-enhancing drug clomifene.
This was revealed just a few hours before the contest. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association carried out the test.
The fight was looked upon as a big deal because it was an extension of their father’s rivalry. Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank were notable rivals in the 1990s. Both met twice in their career and produced spectacular events. The same was expected from this fight.
