Mike Tyson, considered one of the greatest heavyweights ever, made a comeback to the ring last year. The man that many consider the most fearsome fighter talked about his rough childhood and how that led him to start boxing.
In the latest episode of his podcast, ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson’, he revealed what got him into boxing. “I was locked up in this juvenile joint and I got shipped to the lock-up dorm. Then this guy was boxing with kids on the other side. I said I wanna box. He knocked me out first, then he started teaching me how to box.”

“And then I got better than him and then one day I broke his nose. And I thought he was mad at me, but he was mad because his wife said I don’t want you to box him no more. So he said, don’t worry, Imma take you somewhere and this guy’s gonna take you to the next level. That’s where I met my mentor Cus and I went to the next level.”
The man that discovered ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson was a former boxer, Bobby Stewart. Stewart trained him for a few months before taking him to Cus D’Amato and the rest is history. In Cus, he found a father figure that was absent during his entire life. Together, the two went on to create one of the most prolific and dominant runs in boxing history.
Last year, Iron Mike made a comeback to the ring when he faced Roy Jones Jr. Tyson revealed how he plans to keep fighting and expects to fight before the year ends.
