In his last fight, the p4p king beat Caleb Plant to cement his legacy at the 168-pound frame. Post that, many felt he’ll go ahead to defend his straps against mandatory contenders next.

However, Alvarez and his team truly stunned everyone as they announced their move up to the cruiserweight frame. This will be the biggest weight class for the Mexican boxing star, as he’s never fought at such weight before.

Putting some light on the same, Lennox Lewis recently gave his honest opinion. Speaking to Es News, he said, “I mean he can handle it. I mean, he lacks competition at his weight, so yeah, why not move up?”

Ever since Alvarez moved to the super-middleweight roster, he has had the sole aim of capturing all the belts on the line. That said, he beat each and every fighter on his way to reach where he wanted to.

Prior to that, the Mexican boxer had already proved his mettle in the super-welterweight, middleweight, and light heavyweight landscapes. Now, Canelo will move all the way up to the cruiserweight landscape to challenge the WBC champ, Ilunga Makabu, for his throne.
