Canelo Alvarez witnessed a stellar boxing run in 2021, wherein he finally traced his pathway to glory and became the undisputed super-middleweight king. In his last fight, the p4p king beat Caleb Plant to cement his legacy at the 168-pound frame. Post that, many felt he’ll go ahead to defend his straps against mandatory contenders next.

However, Alvarez and his team truly stunned everyone as they announced their move up to the cruiserweight frame. This will be the biggest weight class for the Mexican boxing star, as he’s never fought at such weight before.

Putting some light on the same, Lennox Lewis recently gave his honest opinion. Speaking to Es News, he said, “I mean he can handle it. I mean, he lacks competition at his weight, so yeah, why not move up?”

Ever since Alvarez moved to the super-middleweight roster, he has had the sole aim of capturing all the belts on the line. That said, he beat each and every fighter on his way to reach where he wanted to.

Prior to that, the Mexican boxer had already proved his mettle in the super-welterweight, middleweight, and light heavyweight landscapes. Now, Canelo will move all the way up to the cruiserweight landscape to challenge the WBC champ, Ilunga Makabu, for his throne.

With this, the p4p star will look to become the 5-weight world champion, registering himself in the history books forever.

Canelo Alvarez – A favorite over Ilunga Makabu

Canelo is by far in the best momentum of his career, and he’s truly become a finisher in recent times. All of his fights in 2021 either ended with RTDs or T/KO.
