There, the trash talk begins yet again! Today, Devin Haney shared a clip of his last amateur fight against Ryan Garcia while responding to the latter. The update comes after ‘King Ry’ suggested negotiations with ‘The Dream’ Haney were back on the table yesterday. While it’s great news for boxing fans, who would love to see them clash, does Haney’s corner concur?

Soon after Garcia’s statement started making the rounds on the internet, Bill Haney responded with even better news. Papa Bill claimed, “If you are serious and you are going to sign to the fight, we’ll talk about it.” While Bill was more reassuring about the fight happening, his son took a different route on social media.

Turning to X (formerly Twitter), the WBC super lightweight champion retweeted the clip initially shared by an X user. The caption of the original tweet read, “Devin Haney almost KO’s Ryan Garcia in their fight from the amateurs.” However, when ‘The Dream’ shared it, he elaborated on what happened during the fight with a spicy twist.

“This was our last fight.. right before I turned pro! I know he remember[s] this a** whooping! The time I gave him a (8 count),” wrote Devin Haney! It’s worth mentioning that Garcia had initially switched lanes to fight Rolly Romero, leaving Haney wondering why. However, after Rolly did the same to Garcia, he is back knocking at Haney’s door for a fight. What’s more, as for taking a dig, even Garcia didn’t hold his tongue during yesterday’s interview.

Ryan Garcia claims Bill Haney will have three chances

During the interview with Fight Hype, Garcia asserted, “I’m just telling you [Bill]. You’re going to have three chances in the fight to help your son out.” He added, “We’re going to see if you really care about your son. We’re [going to] see where that love really is. I [will] look at you every time, I [will] give you that look like, you better stop it.”

Ironically, despite being nearly knocked out in their amateur fight, Garcia claimed things will get worse for Devin if he doesn’t get knocked out. “If he’s not knocked out cold, [it’s going to] get a lot worse. You better pray he gets knocked out cold. Pray he gets knocked out cold, so he [doesn’t] feel what he [is going to] feel,” said Garcia.  It’s also worth mentioning that Garcia and Haney met four times during their amateur careers, where each got two wins and two losses.
