It is seldom to see boxers not be braggadocios while assessing themselves. But David Benavidez is quite distinct from the rest. The ‘Mexican Monster’ recently fought against Demetrius Andrade and defeated him via an RTD. The undefeated boxer continues his unbeaten aura and will most likely face Canelo for a world title fight next.

Garcia is a legend of the sport. The 48-year-old is the former lightweight champion and had a celebrated career with a record of 34 victories and just 3 defeats. In a recent interview, he revealed Benavidez should be in the pound-for-pound rankings. However, he also acknowledges that a spot in the rankings is difficult to ascertain and subjective.

Reflecting on the same, while speaking ESNews, he stated, “He should already be in the top 10. I don’t know I have to go through the list but he should be up there. but the thing is you got so much talent that it is hard to… Like say, if he’s number 4, where do you leave out Crawford, where do you leave out Canelo, where do you leave out Inoue, you know.”

The former champion has known the prospect since the nascent stages of his career. Needless to say, given his boxing acumen and being an aid to Benavidez, his opinion has great relevance. What is next for David Benavidez?

Benavidez is eyeing for a world title fight with none other than Canelo Alvarez. Thereafter, he wants to move up in the weight division to fight Dmitry Bivol and then continue in the light-heavyweight division to face Artur Beterbiev. In an interview, he stated, “Canelo first and then go up to 175 to beat Bivol and then maybe Beterbiev,” he added, “I think, I don’t think, I know that’s possible and I can accomplish that.”
