The Villain” Dillian Whyte has broken his silence on the Wilder vs. Fury trilogy fight.

The realm of Heavyweight boxing seems to be at its peak for this generation. The Wilder-Fury saga started with their controversial draw in 2018. The two met for a rematch in February 2020, where “The Gypsy King” rose to the occasion and outclassed Wilder.

Now, due to the rematch clause in their contracts, the two warriors will collide for a conclusive trilogy fight, whenever the conditions permit. Experts predict that it could take place in October-September.

Yet, while the whole world awaits the final Clash of the Titans, Dillian White favors a different school of thought. In his interview with iFL TV, he said,

“I don’t think Fury [should] have to fight Wilder again. [He should] fight me. [He shouldn’t] need to fight Wilder again. No. Wilder held the belt [running] for so long, you know. “

Truly, Wilder held the WBC title for a really long time. In fact, his record for most consecutive title defenses came at par with that of his idol, Muhammad Alis’s. Yet, he could not g a step further and beat Ali’s record as Tyson Fury had other plans for him.

However, this does not change the fact that Fury is under contract, and thus, has to be present for the trilogy fight. The only way that the fixture does not take place is if Wilder backs out. And we all know that the Bronze Bomber will not rest as long as he has the opportunity to avenge his first defeat.

That being said, this is not the only upcoming fight that Whyte is against.

“Pulev just needs to go away”- Dillian Whyte

As soon as Fury beat Wilder and won the WBC title, talks of a title unification bout with Anthony Joshua sprang into the boxing world. Both parties were extremely keen on having the bout ASAP. However, Wilder’s claim of the rematch clause pushed the title unification to a farther date.

Thus, Joshua signed a contract to fight Kubrat Pulev. However, Whyte does not feel that Pulev deserves the shot to fight his rival. He said,

“Pulev just needs to go away!”

He believes that Pulev has had enough chances to prove his mettle. He even stepped out of a fight with Anthony Joshua a couple of years back due to a shoulder injury.

However, he regained his position as the mandatory challenger for the IBF title by beating Hughie Fury. Yet, Whyte believes that Pulev should no longer hold the position, as he has had chances in the past, but not risen to the occasion.

Do you agree with Dillian Whyte?
