‘He Was F*cking Going Crazy, He Was Pissed Off’: Mike Tyson & Dana White Talk About ‘Crazy’ Job That Left Everybody ‘Terrified’

Mike Tyson and UFC president, Dana White, have had a close personal as well as professional relationship over the years. The two have been close even at times when Tyson wasn’t his best self, White stood with the former heavyweight champion through highs and lows. Moreover, this was proved after he tried to get Iron Mike a role in a popular TV show.
There was a time when Tyson wasn’t as financially well off as he is today. During that time he would have probably been forced to take up a fight despite not being in the best physical condition. White perfectly understood this and wanted to prevent Iron Mike from returning to boxing at his advanced age. Instead, he decided to get Tyson a job as one of the guests in the popular ‘Shark Week’ TV show.

However, Tyson seemingly didn’t like the idea of the show where he had to swim with sharks. In a recent video uploaded on his Youtube channel, Tyson and White are seen together doing a shoot. The former champ then reminisces about the time White made him do the show. “He cares about me?’ This n***a cares about me? He wants me to get hurt, he put me in there with a shark,” he said
White then went on to explain, why he decided to get Tyson the role. He stated that the job was part of an effort to stop Iron Mike from making a comeback to the ring. “I call him up and I say, ‘Dude, I don’t want you to do this f***ing fight man, this is f***ing crazy. I’ll get you a TV show, you’ll make some money. So I put him on Shark Week. And he was like, ‘Wait a minute, you care about me?” White said.

Later in the video White also revealed how Tyson felt during the show. He stated that the former champ was in a foul mood and didn’t want to be on the set. “The day he had to jump in and do the shark thing, I guess he was f***ing going crazy, he was p**sed off, the whole film crew was terrified. Everyone was scared. He had to dive into the water and swim with these sharks,” White concluded.
In the show, Tyson had to complete three challenges which included, inducing tonic immobility to a shark by tickling its nose and putting it to sleep. Although he would go on to complete these tasks, Tyson certainly was not glad about being on the show.
