‘He Went to the Store to Buy Him Liquor After She Burned Him’: Mike Tyson Exposed His Mother’s Dark Secret in Undisputed Truth

Mike Tyson made some serious revelations and statements regarding his personal life in his autobiography ‘Undisputed Truth’. In detail, he spoke about his family and his life before he made it big in boxing. In Chapter 1 of ‘Undisputed Truth’, the former heavyweight champion of the world spoke about his mother’s relationship with her then-boyfriend Eddie. Tyson talks about how his mother’s boyfriend stayed with her despite receiving poor treatment.

Although Tyson felt his mother was a victim in most situations, he said she was no “Mother Teresa” herself. Speaking of which, Tyson mentioned the time his mother burned her boyfriend and yet her boyfriend brought her liquor from a store. Tyson wrote, “It made me realize that my mother was no Mother Teresa. She did some serious stuff and he still stayed with her.”

“In fact, he went to the store to buy her some liquor after she burned him,” Tyson wrote. However, Tyson also revealed that Eddie beat his mother, Lorna Tyson. Irrespective of what Eddie did, Tyson could not make sense of the way his mother treated him. In the same paragraph, ‘Kid Dynamite’ linked his sexual dysfunction with the relationship of his mother with Eddie.

Speaking of his mother’s treatment of Eddie, Tyson using the term “lady lib” commented on what women’s liberation would probably think. According to Tyson, while women’s liberation would praise Lorna Tyson’s reaction to and treatment of Eddie, Tyson would label his mother’s actions as blameworthy. “I thought how could you do that to somebody who is supposed to be your boyfriend? So, you see he rewarded her for that. That’s why I was so sexually dysfunctional,” he wrote.

In his life, Tyson later labelled his mother’s death as one of the best things that happened to him. He felt that with her mother still beside him, he would never fight in the street. After his mother’s death, Tyson became a world champion in boxing by the time he turned 20.
