Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather retired from professional boxing back in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record. His last fight came against Former UFC double champion Conor McGregor who he dismissed in the 10th round. However, the former six-division champion has competed in a plethora of exhibition bouts most recently competing against YouTuber Deji back in November.

In addition, it was rumored that ‘Money’ will compete in South Africa for the ‘King MisuZulu International Boxing Tournament‘ in Durban. However, in a quick turn of events, Mayweather backed out of the fight after there were issues regarding payment for his match. He also threatened to sue the event’s organizers for breaching their contract. Now, a month after this debacle, Mayweather has been offered another fight in Africa which might give the same result.

Floyd Mayweather rumored to fight in Africa

A recent post by Lukulu Fm Community Radio 89.7 revealed that a fight between Mayweather and Western Province’s strongest boxer Josam Banda is in the works. The fight will allegedly take place during the Kuomboka Ceremony. Moreover, it was also revealed that Zambians in the United States are in talks with Money’s camp to get this fight booked.

However, according to the post, the fight all depends on Mayweather accepting it and stating that Banda would knock him out in three seconds. It was also mentioned that Banda was knocked out in his last fight. This post was a shock to fans who didn’t expect a less popular boxer to challenge Mayweather and were also quick to react to this post.

Fans shocked at Floyd Mayweather’s rumored opponent

One fan made fun of Banda stating he has watched too many motivational speakers. “It seems that the Banda guy has watched too many motivation speaker,” they wrote.

Another fan claimed that Mayweather would turn the Zambian boxer into a muti-millionaire after being paid in USD. “He would turn out an instant millionaire in US Dollars in a day,” they wrote.

A fan also asked if Banda, who was knocked out in his last fight, beat Mayweather. “He was knocked out by Galagata as you said in your statement. Do you really think that he can beat Mayweather?” they wrote.

Moreover, a fan stated that Mayweather would never accept this challenge. “Never, Mayweather won’t accept this challenge,” they wrote.

This was certainly a bizarre post showing how Maywethaer’s legacy is being affected by these exhibition bouts. While it is true that ‘Money’ will earn extra cash from these fights, it is damaging to his legacy. Moreover, this also makes him susceptible to being challenged by anyone solely based on popularity.

However, despite this, Mayweather doesn’t seem to slow down on his endeavors. He will fight in his next exhibition bout in the UK against Aaron Chalmers after his previous opponent, Liam Harrison pulled out. This will be his first outing in the UK despite his long and illustrious career at the age of 50.

What did you think about Banda wanting to face Mayweather? Let us know in the comments.
