The landscape of boxing is ever-evolving, taking shapes and forms that have excited fans for decades. Jake Paul, an influencer turned fierce pugilist, has played a key role in the said evolution. So, in typical Jake Paul fashion, he has stirred the pot once again by announcing his next opponent. With the announcement, the boxing world is buzzing with speculation and curiosity as to why Jake chose Andre August as the next opponent. 

Despite not getting recognized as a legitimate boxer by people in the boxing community, Jake has achieved many accolades in the sport. Against all odds, the influencer/pugilist defeated the likes of Tyrone Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz. What’s more, The Problem Child’ even dropped Tommy Fury during their fight, losing the fight just by fine margins. However, one question still lingers – why would Jake fight a rather unknown boxer after fighting big names in the industry?

While speaking to MMA Fighting with Ariel Helwani, Jake Paul emphasized August’s record and fighting style, claiming it would be a fun fight for the fans. Paul went on to praise August’s abilities, comparing him to Tyrone Woodley. “He’s a beast. He’s a dog. [Andre August] is strong… got that Tyrone Woodley frame,” said Paul.

Paul also suggested that he was looking for an opponent with great numbers, which made him choose August. “I wanted someone with ten wins or more and few to no losses,” said Paul. Further justifying his choice of opponent, Jake claimed August presents a challenge to him. “He’s got more Knockouts than me, more experience than me, he has one-punch knockout power, he’s dropped opponents,” said Jake.

Logan Paul weighs in on his brother’s fight

Jake Paul has recovered from his loss against Tommy Fury by defeating Nate Diaz, but a potential loss against August could ruin his rapid rise. The same was emphasized by Logan Paul in his recent podcast. While appearing in the latest episode of Impaulsive, Logan Paul chimed in on Jake’s upcoming fight with August.

Highlighting the importance of Jake’s win, Logan Paul underlined the potential consequence if Jake loses the fight to an unknown fighter. “You got to win, you got to win, cuz if this noname comes and starts fu**in up your record and what you’re trying to build for the rest of your life it for free,” said Logan Paul.
