In an ideal world, Deontay Wilder would be preparing for his fight against Anthony Joshua just about now. Alas, ideal it is not. Since that fight is not happening, the former heavyweight champion is busy spending time with his wife, cruising in his Rolls Royce. As he does that, he hints at a ‘Lonely Road.’ Where does this road lead? Fans remain curious.

In December, Wilder lost to his Kiwi opponent, Joseph Parker, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. That night, ‘Bronze Bomber’ did not just register his career’s third loss, but he also lost his chance to fight ‘AJ’ in the tentative March 8th fight. While the Londoner kept his side of the deal by defeating Otto Wallin, Wilder failed. As he faces flak for the same now, he wrote a message reflecting on his character in an Instagram post.

On his Instagram, the 38-year-old fighter posted a video of him cruising in his Rolls Royce along with his partner, Telli Swift. Grown-out hair, and a wide smile, the Alabama hard hitter was composed, jamming to a song while trying to sing along. In the captions, he wrote, “Anyone who knows me knows my character! I’ve always shown love and helped everyone around me. The devil is busy and hurt people try to hurt people but before I go down this lonely road I pray that everything is going to be ok.”

In the wake of his scathing loss to Parker, a lot of folks wondered if this was the knell for the Bronze Bomber’s illustrious career. While he has not clarified when he will fight next and against whom, it is also crucial to note that fans still await his confrontation against AJ. With so much baggage in the background, this video was roped in by the fans to deliver their takes on his career.

Another well-wisher, or rather a critic, it’s hard to tell now; suggested the fighter go back to his former trainer. Currently, the heavyweight trains under the tutelage of Philadelphian, Malik Scott. The user urged the boxer to go back to Mark Breland, with whom Bomber terminated his alliance right before his Tyson Fury Trilogy fight in 2020. They said, “You need a new trainer, bring.Mark back.”

Then came an avid fan, labeling Wilder as the “best knockout fighter of all time bomb squad.”
