“He’s Been in a Lot of Wars” – Shawn Porter Picks Manny Pacquiao Over Floyd Mayweather

Former two-time welterweight boxing champion, Shawn Porter would prefer to have Manny Pacquiao’s career than Floyd Mayweather’s. Who wouldn’t want to have a career like Floyd Mayweather’s? While most boxers would prefer to retire with minimum damage and a ton of money like Floyd, Shawn Porter isn’t impressed with ‘The Best Ever‘.
During the latest episode of Impact Network’s “Stars and Champions,” Porter responded to a fan’s question. And revealed that he would rather have the career of Manny Pacquiao than Mayweather.

“I’m actually gonna go with Manny,” Porter told host Dan Rafael. “I think that even though Manny has taken a lot of punishment – he’s been in a lot of wars, he’s been in a lot of exciting fights. You know me – I like the war.”

“I like the battle and I like the excitement. So, for those reasons, I would pick Manny. And then on top of that, if you look around the world more people appreciate Manny. More people respect and adore Manny than dislike him [than] Floyd Mayweather.”

Floyd played it safe while he was active. He took a defensive approach to the sport rather than an offensive one. And for that reason he is referred to as one of the greatest defensive boxers of all time. His style may have not been fan-pleasing but it got the job done.

“Even me as the boxer, because just like when I get in the ring and I get people up on their feet, that’s what Manny Pacquiao did,” Porter said. “And Floyd’s been able to do it, too, but not as [much]. I don’t think the excitement – it was a different level to the excitement.”

Furthermore, Porter stated that people on the streets are more willing to shake Pacquiao’s hand than Floyd’s. He also believes that Floyd is not appreciated much because of his controversial life outside the ring.
“Floyd Mayweather for everything that he’s done for this sport because it’s been overshadowed by some of the things that he’s done outside of the sport.”
