Former WBC super-middleweight champion David Benavidez recently reacted to the scuffle between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant.

He shared that he caught up with news about the heated exchange between Canelo Alvarez and the IBF super-middleweight champion late. He directly started watching at the point when Caleb Plant was wiping his cut, so he had to rewind it. Benavidez said he found the whole exchange pretty funny.

He added that Caleb Plant tried to sucker-punch his brother, Jose Benavidez Jr. before and claimed that “he’s getting what he deserves”.

I’m looking at it, they’re all standing up, I’m like what the f**k is going on and I see Caleb Plant with a piece of paper wiping his eye, I’m like what the f**k, so I had to rewind it.

“I’d seen that he hit him, that s**t, it was pretty funny man. But that’s what happens with Caleb Plant, he thinks he’s a tough guy, but he’s really not, it’s not like that, he tried to sucker punch my brother, he tried to sucker punch Canelo, he’s getting what he deserves,” said David Benavidez.

The undefeated former WBC champion said that he has been waiting for a fight with Plant for a long time. He then took digs at Plant’s record with just 10 knockout wins.

I’ll beat his a*. That’s the fight I’ve been wanting for a long time, man. He talks a lot. You know, the thing about that dude, he talks like he’s a killer but looking at his record, he has 22 fights, 10 knockouts.”

“So he’s really not like that, you know what I mean? So that’s the one guy I really want to get in there and knock his a** out,” said David Benavidez.

The Benavidez brothers and Caleb Plant share a mutual dislike for each other. Jose Benavidez Jr., a welterweight contender, and Plant have been in a scuffle of their own as well.
