Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia have an epic clash ahead of them! Meanwhile, Haney’s former opponent, Jorge Linares, thinks Garcia will face some challenges in securing the win. Garcia and Haney will fight each other for the first time since their amateur careers. Despite having three wins over each other, there’s a severe disparity in their achievements in pro boxing.

On the one hand, Haney became undisputed and moved to the next weight division to do the same. On the other, Garcia barely became a champion in his division. Regardless, the upcoming fight between the two career rivals on July 20 in Brooklyn, New York, has the boxing world divided on who would win. While appearing in an interview recently, Linares warned Garcia about Haney’s chin.

Jorge Linares claims moving to 140 was the best decision Devin Haney made

Speaking to Linares, who fought Haney in April 2021, the reporter from Fight Hype questioned the Venezuela native about his former opponent’s upcoming fight. In response, Linares highlighted, “I think he made the best decision in his life [by moving] to 140.” Moreover, when the reporter questioned Linares whether Haney had gotten better since he fought Haney, the former world champion had a lot to say.

It’s worth mentioning that during Haney and Linares’ fight, the latter had managed to test Haney’s chin and wobbled him. So, answering the reporter, Linares said, “I think he [has a] good chin. [At] that moment with me, [he got wobbled] because he [lost] too much weight.” However, now that Haney is competing in the 140-pound division, Linares thinks things are different.

‘The Dream’ Haney thinks Ryan Garcia isn’t taking the sport seriously

Going into the fight, there have been a lot of controversies surrounding Garcia’s mental health. At first, ‘King Ry’ showed up drunk at the first press conference. “Ryan’s been talking so much, but I feel like it’s been motivating me even more. Just to end him and get him out of boxing because he’s not taking the sport seriously like he should be,” Devin told the reporters. Claiming Garcia has been a flawed role model for his followers, Haney said, “He’s doing everything else but promoting the fight… I just feel like I’ve been super motivated.”

That said, Jorge Linares strongly believes Ryan Garcia will face issues when facing Devin Haney because of the latter’s strong chin. However, whether Linares’ prediction comes true can only be determined come fight night. Do you think Garcia stands a chance?
