Turki Alalshikh Confirms $100M+ Truth of Canelo Alvarez’s Purse as Terence Crawford Set to Make a Fraction

Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are now just over a day away from their mega showdown at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, live on Netflix. The anticipation is sky-high as the two boxing superstars face off for the final time before stepping into the ring this Saturday night. Reports suggest the fighters will share a staggering combined purse of $200 million.

Canelo Alvarez is expected to secure the lion’s share with $150 million, while Terence Crawford will walk away with $50 million. In the meantime, though, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh – the driving force behind making this fight a reality after signing Canelo to a four-fight deal earlier this year—addressed Alvarez’s earnings at today’s press conference, revealing the real number.

How much is Canelo Alvarez getting paid?

When a fan asked whether Canelo was making $100 million from the bout, Turki Alalshikh swiftly clarified, “No, you get the number wrong. The contract between us and Canelo is more than that.” Regardless, Crawford has previously stated that his earnings would amount to a lot less than what Canelo Alvarez is making. 

While appearing in the Ring Champs podcast, the Nebraskan technician claimed, “I got $10 million for that fight [with Canelo].” Even the host of the podcast was left stunned by Crawford’s claim, as they accused him of messing around. However, Crawford doubled down on his claim, suggesting that he was doing it for the legacy. 

“I’m doing it for the opportunity, baby, the legacy,” Crawford said. “The legacy outweighs the money. Three-time undisputed, ooo-wee coming soon. And I might go back down 154lbs and do it again.” If true, Crawford has taken the ultimate risk. If he loses, he will not only miss out on the biggest payday of his career but also tarnish his perfect record.

UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed the magnitude of Canelo Alvarez’s payday for his upcoming clash with Terence Crawford. When asked about the historic earnings boxers often make compared to UFC fighters, White said, “Well, there’s a handful of guys that always make that kind of money.” 

“When you look at the UFC, the money is spread across the entire group of guys. You eat what you kill. If you are a huge star, like Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey, many people have proved they can sell PPVs.” Pressed specifically about Canelo vs. Crawford, White added, “Imagine what it would take for Canelo to fight Crawford, and for a guy to move weight classes, who is undefeated.” On rumors of a $100 million purse, he admitted, “Probably.”
