The ‘Rocky’ franchise and its offshoot the ‘Creed’ series are often considered some of the best movies revolving around the sport of boxing. In fact, the Rocky movies can even be credited as reinstilling a love for boxing among regular viewers. Moreover, this also made Hollywood superstar, Sylvester Stallone, who essayed the role of the protagonist Rocky Balboa, a household name. While his current success is apparent, Stallone has always been a strong believer in bringing one’s intentions to life. And he channeled the same by recently sharing a few iconic statements made by Dick Gregory.

Gregory was a writer, comedian, and civil rights leader. It can even be said that his witty and ‘no-holds barred’ words have shaped modern discussions on race and culture. He was in a tell-all interview called Dick Gregory Complete Truth in 2015. And was sure to remind viewers to depend on ‘hope’. Talking about the same, he said, “If you say I like to go to Paris this year. But I can’t afford it. You just told 75 trillion cells, to see to it that you don’t get to Paris. That’s who you are. And when you find that out.”

Gregory further opened up about telling his wife that he was suffering from cancer. He also detailed his response to his distraught wife, “I know I’m not going nowhere. If you hope, hope don’t work. You never heard rich and powerful mother*ckers say hope.” Stallone, who will star in his family reality series, shared the same as an Instagram story.

Sylvester Stallone was not the only one impressed by Dick Gregory’s words

It should be mentioned that Sylvester Stallone was not the only one who was touched by Gregory’s statements. A lot of fans, in fact, took to the comments of the original post from an account by the name ‘richbitxhbree’, to share their thoughts.

Makeen 513 paid tribute to Gregory, saying, “Miss the OG he was a realest. May He Rest In Peace.”

Similarly, Deep Spase mentioned, “R.I.P. to him, he taught and fought for humankind his whole life. Literally until he passed.”

Meanwhile, a lot of users agreed with his words. Lil Threat said, “He’s talking about the power of manifesting is greater than hope.”

In the same vein, RA Heruankhety stated, “Facts you are in charge of your destiny.”

Moreover, Eva added, “He is 100% right. You can’t hope or wish. You ask for it, you put it out there, and believe 100% you will get it.”
