Former world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather has embarked on a special journey to his motherland, Africa, as part of his highly anticipated “The Motherland Tour.” Before his visit to Zimbabwe, Mayweather made headlines with a recent exhibition fight against John Gotti III. With deep ties to the ruling ZANU PF party, Sakupwanya aims to leverage ‘TBE’s’ presence to engage with youth voters in the upcoming general election. Moreover, the tour holds profound personal meaning as he returns to Africa, the land of his ancestry. This journey signifies a deep desire to reconnect with his roots and explore opportunities to uplift African boxing talent. Mayweather’s visit to Zimbabwe is the first leg of his expedition, followed by a trip to South Africa.

‘Glad that you are back to the motherland’: Fans delight in welcoming Floyd Mayweather to Zimbabwe
Upon his arrival, Floyd Mayweather was greeted with an outpouring of enthusiasm and excitement from fans. In addition, the Zimbabwean populace organized a lively reception complete with song, dance, and a fleet of luxury cars at the airport. The vibrant display of support was part of their welcoming ceremony for the former champion. However, this was not all as many fans expressed their overwhelming delight and excitement after seeing ‘Money’ go back to his roots.
