Yordenis Ugas is one of the most successful boxers of recent times. He has constantly proved his worth to one and all and has enjoyed a steep rise in the welterweight division. However, his success isn’t just limited to professional boxing.
In 2008, he represented his nation in the Beijing Olympics and came out with a bronze medal after competing with some fine pugilists coming from the globe. Right from his first fight in Beijing, Ugas showed heart, and it seemed as if he’d go on to bag the ultimate gold.
In his first preliminary bout was against Algeria’s Hamza Kramou, Ugas fought well and won this fight comfortably.

Moving ahead, ’54 Milagros’ escalated his Olympic stint by putting on classical performances. In his quarter-finals, he faced Georgian Popescu. Once again putting his fight IQ to the display, Ugas bagged another win to book his seat in the semi-finals.
However, in the semi-finals, Ugas’ hype got derailed as he lost to Daouda Sow and had to settle for bronze. After that, the Cuban boxer made the transition to professional boxing and stepped into a new world in 2010.
Once he came under the big lights in pro-boxing, Ugas never looked back and rose to the top in multiple divisions. Hence, in every sense, ’54 Milagros’ has seen a career that’s worth registering in the history books.
