Mike Tyson, 54, is looking forward to his moment of truth inside the ring against Roy Jones Jr on Sept 12, coming out of a 15-year-long hiatus. However, Tyson assures fans that he is sporting the same mighty mindset that he did in his golden years.

The lethal knockout artist recently talked about his upcoming fight against Jones Jr and claimed that he is on a mission. Although Tyson gave up his claim as the top dog of his division, he is still billed as one of the greatest to have graced the ring.

Speaking with TMZ, Tyson reflected his opinion over the upcoming fight and also reacted to George Foreman’s worries about it.

A couple of days ago George Foreman told TMZ that Tyson and Roy Jones Jr run the risk of suffering some serious injuries if they decide to go through with their battle.

Thus ‘The Big George’ advised them to avoid hurting each other. In response, Mike Tyson claimed that Foreman doesn’t need to worry about them.

“I don’t know, he (George Foreman) wasn’t worried about being hurt when he went on his tour of coming back for fighting, so don’t worry about us,” said Tyson.

After being an A-listed prospect, George Foreman retired young from the sport at 28-years-old. However, he returned at 45 to claim the World title and became the oldest boxer to do so, a record that remains untouched even today.

Therefore, Tyson did not want him to outline the cons of fighting at an advanced age. As per ‘Iron’ Mike, he is ready to go for all the eight rounds against ‘Captain Hook’.

“I’m prepared to go eight rounds and I want to show it off. I just want to go on this mission…but like I said, this is search and destroy and I’m looking forward to recapturing my glory.

“We’re both professional and we know how to handle ourselves. What happens, happens,” declared Tyson.

Mike Tyson has fought last against Kevin McBride in 2005. Although he went on to lose the fight, Tyson claims he is still all about ‘hurting people’.

To add some thrill, Tyson further stated, “The fighting game is what I’m about and hurting people is what I’m about.”

Meanwhile, Roy Jones Jr hung up his gloves barely two years ago in 2018. Roy Jones defeated Scott Sigmon in his last fight and retired while riding high on a four-fight win streak.

There’s no denying the fact that if either fighter lands a clean shot, the other one will be going to sleep.

The much-awaited matchup is reportedly going to be staged in California, leaving the boxing community on the edge of their seats already.
