WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo would have to make 168 lbs to enter fight talks with unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. If not, the P4P king would have to move down to 160 lbs. While both the scenarios appear deluded, Charlo has revealed his plan on facing Canelo Alvarez at the catchweight.

Jermall doesn’t seem interested in vacating the WBC title. Hence, ‘The Hitman’ has claimed to put his belt on the line, rather than quitting it to face Alvarez. He connected with ES News and opened up on the possible blockbuster showdown.

“I am getting paid at the 160 lbs right now, I am the WBC middleweight champion at a 160 lbs. If we can get the fight at catchweight, and for some reason keep the strap, and put the strap on line. I am down for any of that,” said Charlo.

However, the WBC titlist isn’t focused on Alvarez or any of the top-tier contenders at this stage. He has his title defense against Juan Macias Montiel on June 19 and appears to have devoted himself solely to the fight.

The Hitman continued, “I wanna unify like my twin brother. I am still chasing my dream, you know. There’s so much here to me. Right now, I am focused on Montiel. I am not focused on Canelo, GGG, or anybody else.”

As his comments suggest, Charlo is focused on Montiel, as a loss against him would shatter all these plans. Still unbeaten, Jermall Charlo is touted to do admirable things against several big opponents.

The P4P king Canelo Alvarez will likely face IBF 168 lbs champion Caleb Plant in a massive unification showdown by this year. He hasn’t expressed any official confirmation of getting back to the middleweight unit or facing Jermall Charlo.

So, the matchup is still far from an official confirmation; however, if Charlo can make some twists in the tale, he might get Alvarez’s attention. Charlo vs Alvarez is potentially be a big fight and fans would seemingly put all their interest in it.
