WBA interim middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. wants to face off against the Mexican sensation Canelo Alvarez.

Eubank Jr. holds a professional boxing record of 29 wins and 2 losses. His last fight took place in December 2019 in which he won the vacant WBA interim middleweight championship. “Next Gen” was granted the TKO win after Matt Korobov was unable to continue due to a shoulder injury.

In a chat with Sky Sports, Eubank revealed that he wants to fight Canelo Alvarez. He believes that he would be the perfect opponent for the four-division champion.

“Canelo Alvarez, that’s the No 1 fight that I want right now. I don’t think anyone on the planet would make a better opponent for him. Most guys are going in there to run and survive, I’m going in there to destroy.”

Chris Eubank Jr. has a strategy for Canelo Alvarez

As of now, Canelo does not have an opponent finalized. And Eubank wants to capitalize on the opportunity. The British boxer claims that he sees holes in the champion’s game. Besides that, he asserted that he will take the fight to Canelo instead of being defensive.

“I know I can beat him, so that’s the fight I want. I definitely have got a strategy. I see the weaknesses. I see where he can be exposed. I’m not looking to survive, I’m taking the fight to him and I don’t think he’s ready for somebody like that.

“Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez, two of the biggest names in boxing and they both have middleweight titles. Those are the guys I want. Those are the fights that I need at this stage of my career. I don’t want to take backward steps. It’s full steam ahead.”

Eubank Jr. suffered his first loss against undefeated boxer Billy Joe Saunders in 2014. The Brit said that he is open to a rematch.

“Saunders is ongoing,” Eubank said. “It is a fight that can, and probably will happen again in the future… Everybody knows we don’t get along. We don’t like each other. I want the fight. The only issue is that I’m at middleweight and he’s at super middleweight.”
