Mike Tyson evolved from a troubled childhood and became a boxing heavyweight world champion at the mere age of 20, which turned him into a global superstar pretty rapidly. Having held the moniker of the youngest heavyweight champion to this day, Tyson saw several successful days in his pugilistic ride.

Although he lost a few times in the final phase of his career, Tyson’s unprecedented achievements, which happened mostly in the early years, secured his spot amongst the all-time GOATs of boxing. However, 55-year-old Mike Tyson doesn’t like to look back at his persona from his prime years. In an episode of the HotBoxin’ podcast, Tyson revealed how he hated his older self.

‘Iron Mike’ said, “When I look at myself when I am younger, I said, ‘who the f*** is that? What was that all about? What was that error in my life all about? It’s about chaos. Addicted to chaos.”

“I couldn’t kill myself fast enough. What the f*** was going on?” – Tyson added.

Well, Tyson may have enough reasons to feel so. He was a force of terror at a young age, poleaxing every man on his way to the top. This calls for an immense reputation inside the boxing circle. But Tyson couldn’t healthily retain all of that.

He got involved in several controversies outside the ring. Tyson even had multiple alterations, which reflected his personality viciously. Seeing that in his dotage, Tyson clearly doesn’t prefer his older self. Having seen several ups and downs in life, Mike Tyson passes on a redemptive essence from his existing personality.

Mike Tyson is a wild man turned philanthropist

‘Iron’ Mike has shown some prominent changes in his character over the past few years. Once a brashy loud moth, Tyson is now a veteran of the sport who doesn’t really bully people on the other side. In fact, Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx has claimed to portray the ‘redemptive’ Tyson on his latest TV series, based on the heavyweight icon.

Amid so many changes, one thing has remained constant. i.e. Tyson’s itch to fight. The former world champion returned to action in 2020 at the age of 54. And he performed commendably against Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition.

While he didn’t need to return at any cist, Tyson still did it for the sake of fight fans and a possibly big payday. Therefore, boxing may be the only thing Tyson wants from his older self.
