Oscar De La Hoya appears optimistic about his much-awaited in-ring return, as he will take on the UFC veteran Vitor Belfort in a boxing scrap in September. However, the ex-champion doesn’t want to overlook Belfort’s abilities. ‘The Phenom’ would dwarf ‘The Golden Boy’ under the physical attributes, which might be costly for De La Hoya in the fight.

Oscar De La Hoya said, “He is a big guy. I didn’t realize how big he was. He is a big guy, Jesus, but it’s all right I have a good chin. You know as long as I have my stamina, which obviously I will. I mean, I won’t go inside the ring not having stamina. But I am feeling good, I am feeling great.”

In the last year, several retired veterans have returned to action and faced MMA fighters or celebrity contenders in the ring. While Oscar De La Hoya is the latest addition to the list, he has expressed interest to continue fighting. However, the ex-world titlist would have to surpass Vitor Belfort first. This may not be too easy.

Oscar De La Hoya vs Vitor Belfort- How intense the fight can be?

Both men have passed their prime and don’t need to fight for a career-defining moment any longer. However, the gigantic Vitor Belfort has stepped up to accept a massive challenge against a former champion boxer. There’s no denying De La Hoya will relish the advantage as the fight will take place in a boxing ring. However, Vitor Belfort’s size would prove to be the great equalizer, resulting in an intense bout.

According to reports, the matchup would happen in a Triller PPV. While Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. inaugurated Triller Fight Club’s event in November 2020, the platform has already made waves in the boxing universe. That said, De a Hoya vs Belfort would help them attain new heights in their journey.
