Caleb Plant recently came back from a yearlong hiatus, to showcase an explosive comeback performance. And it should be said that he not only impressed fans, but also the boxing fraternity. So much so that he had Canelo Alvarez’s arch-nemesis shower praises about his performance. David Benavidez was all in awe of Plant’s performance and had a few choice words to say about the same.

Plant recently faced Anthony Dirrell, at the Barclays Center, in New York City, on October 15, 2022. He went on to have a sensational victory via a brutal 9th-round knockout.

This was in fact, a far cry from Plant’s performance against Alvarez in 2021. Plant’s performance won the hearts of both fans and fellow boxers. Moreover, the boxing community has since been excited about the future bouts in store for Plant.

Meanwhile, Benavidez was in an interview with BoxingScene. It should also be mentioned that Benavidez had witnessed Plant grow as a boxer over the years. And he revealed that he was rarely impressed with Plant’s performances. However, things took a drastic turn after Plant’s recent match. An impressed Benavidez said, “There was a lot of back and forth. I’m really surprised by Anthony Dirrell. He seemed fast, he was landing some good shots.”

He further added, ” I’m really mostly surprised by the knockout. I didn’t think Caleb had it in him to pull out the knockout.”

Benavidez also mentioned that Plant’s performance has made him a lot more excited about a potential fight with him.

Caleb Plant dismisses potential fight with David Benavidez

It seems like Caleb Plant has no interest in fighting David Benavidez. In fact, he even spoke about the same in an interview.

Plant was talking on ‘The Good Fight with Kate Abdo‘. In conversation, he dismissed any notions of fighting Benavidez or Jermall Charlo, saying, “I don’t think either one of them can f*ck with me. So it doesn’t matter to me. As far as skills, I don’t think either one of them can f*ck  with me.”

Plant also mentioned that they were incapable of outboxing him.
