Boxing fans have been buzzing with anticipation over the upcoming bout between former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant and David Benavidez for some time now. The two fighters have been trading barbs back and forth, both in the ring and out with plenty of trash talk and drama fueling their rivalry.

Both fighters are scheduled to face each other in a 12-round super-middleweight title fight which will take place on Saturday, March 25. Moreover, this bout could potentially decide who will face Canelo Alvarez for the super middleweight titles. In addition, their personal rivalry only adds to the intrigue of the fight which already has the potential to be a great matchup. The two started beefing in 2017 when they were sparring partners and had a heated exchange. However, Plant recently revealed what really took the beef to the next level.

You know it’s like his dad hopped on an interview and said that I only talk about Aalia to get clout and to be famous, and that I don’t need to talk about her no more, I just need to, you know, she’s not here no more, I just need to be quiet and let that situation be basically. I don’t fu*k with that. You know, he’s liked pictures on my Instagram of me and Alia in the hospital together, laying in the hospital bed together, you know, the dad Jose Benavidez senior, liking pictures like that.” he said.

Moreover, he also revealed how Benavidez’s camp would try to bring his personal life into the mix which was certainly not appreciated by Plant. According to him, the damage becomes irreversible when things have gone this far.

Once you start, you know, bringing up someone’s mom, once you start bringing up their kids, their wife, that’s like a different level. And, um, that’s like what happened between me and Canelo. We shook hands after, yeah, you know, some things you don’t come back from, and that’s not something that is ever reversible for me” he added.

It is certain that the two dislike each other very much. However, all the bad blood will be settled on 25th March when they meet in the ring.

Benavidez claims Plant exposed his weakness in the build-up to their fight

If you’re going to fight somebody you dislike, you at least have got to stand up for yourself. He just let me walk all over him. People want to say that he’s cool, calm, and collected. It’s funny that he wasn’t acting like that against Canelo until Canelo smacked the f**k out of him, and now his energy changed completely.” he said.

Now that they will, fans will not have to speculate who will go further in the cutthroat super middleweight division.
