Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin are ready to bring Matchroom Boxing’s Fight Camp to a deserving end. The two heavyweights will take on each other this Saturday. A man of few words, Povetkin isn’t a fan of making predictions. However, he does guarantee that the fans will get the dose of action that they expect from the fight.
Povetkin will look to dethrone Whyte from the position of the WBC mandatory. The latter has held the same for over a thousand days. Yet he hasn’t had a chance to fight for the WBC heavyweight belt. Saturday could possibly be the last occasion when Whyte has to defend his mandatory status.
The WBC has already announced that they want the winner of Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder to make a title defense early next year. The trilogy between the two should take place in December this year.

Whyte would be happy as the chance to fight for the heavyweight crown looms closer than ever. However, the Russian will aim to play spoiler to Whyte’s plans. He realizes the dangers that ‘The Body Snatcher’ brings with himself. Hence, he has left no stone unturned in his preparations despite the ongoing pandemic.
“I have taken the responsibility to train for this fight, understanding how serious it is. You have to take Dillian seriously,” Povetkin said during the final press conference ahead of the fight.
Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin promises to be a battle of left hooks
Both Whyte and Povetkin have two of the best left hooks in the heavyweight division. Povetkin is a former WBA heavyweight champ whose only losses have come against Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko. Come Saturday, he promises fireworks for millions watching from around the world.
“I don’t like to make predictions – but it will be fireworks,” he added.

On the other hand, Dillian Whyte is not letting his focus slip away against a very dangerous opponent. After coming off a long camp in Portugal, the Brixton native wants to put away Povetkin so that he can finally get his chance at the undisputed WBC heavyweight belt. Moreover, he is not bothered about his possible opponent of the future – Tyson Fury.
“I’m fighting a consummate professional so I’m not bothered about Tyson Fury. I’m bothered about Povetkin,” Whyte said during the press conference.
