The WBC Heavyweight Champion of the world, Tyson Fury has issued his last warning to the BBC. The ‘Gypsy King’ is in a public spat with the broadcasting company over his nomination for the SPOTY award.
He did not want the nomination and even put in a request to them to take him off the list. However, the BBC did not adhere to his request and kept him on. Consequently, Fury is now threatening legal action.

Speaking to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain, Fury voiced his opinion on the matter. He said, “I don’t need any awards from any TV stations or any organizations for me to know who I am. I know who I am, I know what I’ve done. I don’t need a big pat on the back and I don’t need a glass trophy.”
The undefeated champion added, “I see everyone clambering to get on that list and I’m clambering to get off it. I don’t need gratification from anybody”.

Fury went on to say what he is planning to do if they do not take him off the list. He said, “Well, I’ve asked nicely in the video to be taken off the list, and they’ve decided that they wasn’t going to take me off the list.
“So I’ve had my lawyer send them a letter. Demanding that I be taken off the list. Well, let’s hope they listen.”
Why does Tyson Fury want to reject the nomination?
The Sports Personality of the Year award is one of the most prestigious awards in England. However, Fury believes that his greatest validation is the opinion of the fans.
Furthermore, since the majority of the fans consider him the best heavyweight right now, it is clear to see that Fury doesn’t need any trophies to validate his achievements.

So now that Fury could be taking legal action, maybe they will take him off the list. However, many fans may feel like ‘The Gypsy King’ is making this a bigger deal than it should be. Despite this, we don’t think Fury will get his wish.
