Roy Jones Jr: “It’s hectic cause it’s Mike Tyson”
The 4-division champion candidly expressed his views on stepping into the ring against the perennially ferocious Tyson. Although ‘Iron Mike’ hasn’t fought since 2005, many fans believe his forward pressure will be overwhelming. Additionally, come fight night, he is expected to step on the scale much heavier than Jones.

“Those early rounds are your best rounds, you have to survive 1, 2, 3 to get to 4,5,6,7 and 8, you understand. Surviving 1, 2, and 3 is hectic. It’s very hectic because it’s Mike Tyson. There’s probably a weight difference anywhere between 25-40 pounds.”
Roy Jones was quick to acknowledge that Tyson posed a massive threat under the bright lights of the ring. He seemed clear that his own resolve would be enough to seize the day against ‘Iron Mike’.
“There’s something called heart. When you got heart, and you’re a warrior and you always want to win. That don’t stop. If anybody calls me, I’ll say whatever, Mike Tyson? I can’t say no. There were people who were praying saying that I’ll fight you, and I got the call.”
“I’m going to run to him”
The Olympian Silver medalist appeared supremely confident at the prospect of the bout. He has gone on record to say that Mike Tyson is unlikely to let off the pedal just because it is an exhibition bout.

“Do you know what I look like if I turn it down? I’ve never looked like a coward my whole career. Am I going to run from Mike Tyson cause he’s big? No, I’m going to run to him. I don’t run from nobody.”
Chiefly, the fight is expected to be competitive despite both fighters being over the age of 50. Jones last competed as recently as 2018 and will be confident in his ability to push the pace.
