Alabama native Deontay Wilder just came off a fresh victory against Robert Helenius. Wilder was away from the ring since his loss at the hands of Tyson Fury. However, he made a stunning comeback and knocked out Helenius in the first round itself. He has some interesting fights coming up in the near future. Let’s take a look at what his trainer has to say about him.

The WBC has recently ordered a fight between Deontay Wilder and Mexican boxing phenom Andy Ruiz Jr. The winner of this fight will get a chance to win Tyson Fury’s belt through a fight. While talking about the same, Wilder’s trainer, Malik Scott, stated, “His test is the Tyson Fury’s of the game. I don’t believe the likes of Joshua, Usyk, and Andy Ruiz – I don’t think they come close to Deontay when he’s focused and on point, I just don’t. Believe it or not, with this Deontay, I don’t think even Tyson Fury can beat him.”

He further added, “A Deontay that’s disciplined and a Deontay’s on a game plan, with all due respect that’s not a tough fight for Deontay at all, and that’s saying a lot because Andy Ruiz is tough.”

‘The Bronze Bomber’ is regarded as the hardest puncher in boxing. He had been a tough opponent for Fury in their previous fights. Scott believes that the current Deontay Wilder has a shot to beat Tyson Fury despite the fact that Wilder has already lost to Fury twice. However, Wilder will get the opportunity to do so if he defeats Ruiz Jr. Then, if his trainer is right, he will take on Fury, and maybe this time, he will succeed in defeating him.

Upcoming match-ups for Deontay Wilder

As per the WBC, Wilder will first take on the former unified heavyweight champion, Ruiz Jr. in a final eliminator. But another interesting match-up is waiting up for Wilder. There have been rumors that the American might go up against British boxing superstar Anthony Joshua. Both of them are among the best in the heavyweight division, and fans will surely want them to square off inside the ring.

Apart from Joshua, another interesting opponent for Wilder would be Oleksandr Usyk. The latter is supposed to fight Tyson Fury for the undisputed title. However, a Wilder vs. Usyk fight would definitely turn out to be a magnanimous showdown. Meanwhile, what do you think about Scott’s remarks on Wilder? Let us know in the comments below.
