Amidst this, Davis’ promoter Floyd Mayweather stated in an interview, “The main man in the sport of boxing is the one that’s attached to me, Gervonta Tank Davis. That’s the only thing that this kid Ryan Garcia its the only thing he knows is Tank. That’s the only name he knows is Tank, right? He said all I wanna do is fight Tank. I don’t care if it’s the biggest fight. Okay, you wanna fight Tank, you know in boxing we make sacrifices so we know Tank fights at 135, so if you wanna fight Tank at 135 we can make it happen before the end of the year.”

As a boxer, one has to make certain sacrifices and Mayweather is urging Garcia to make one such sacrifice for making the fight a reality. Garcia was adamant earlier that he’d never go back to fighting at 135 after his dominant win over Javier Fortuna. As such, he wants to fight Tank at 140.
