Despite a commendable start, Carlos Takam fell short before Joe Joyce in their recent collision which saw the Brit surpass his French rival with a sixth-round stoppage. Although Takam appeared eager to continue fighting, he had contracted too much damage for the referee’s satisfaction. However, that hasn’t battered the 40-year-old’s positive mind frame.

He connected with Behind The Gloves, after his loss and expressed his opinion on the whole scenario. Takam said, “I don’t want to cry, I don’t want to cry because I lost the fight, you know. I don’t want to cry. You know, you see the fight. You see what happened. So, no comments.”

Takam troubled the undefeated Joe Joyce in the initial stage. He planted prominent shots in the first two rounds and seemingly cracked up ‘Juggernaut’. While Joyce connected with a few shots in round two, Takam responded with sheer action on his rival’s body.

Hence, the fight appeared to be a close-collision until Joyce brought his best side to the display. After four gruesome rounds, the fight saw Joe Joyce advance himself on the scorecard. However, as Takam got weary by the end of the fifth round, Joyce pounced on him with a barrage of punches.

As the WBC silver title, WBO International title, and the Commonwealth (British Empire) titles were at stake, Joyce secured all three of them with a successful KO victory on board. But how does it impact Carlos Takam’s fighting future?

As Takam failed to surpass ‘Juggernaut’ in his recent test, the future might demand a lot more from him. Nevertheless, it’s never the end of the ride, especially for a veteran like Carlos Takam.
