‘I Feel Canelo is Not Mentally Ok After…’: Fans in Frenzy as Canelo Alvarez Struggles During Last Post-Fight Presser

Mexican boxing sensation Canelo Alvarez has emerged as the biggest star of the sport in today’s time. Over the years, he has fought many boxers and has always sought new challenges. However, fans have recently speculated that the boxer isn’t acting like himself.

Canelo Alvarez recently retained his undisputed super-middleweight title against Gennady Golovkin. The trilogy fight took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in front of a sold-out crowd.

However, before fighting Golovkin, the Mexican was handed the first defeat of his career since losing to Floyd Mayweather in 2013. Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol pulled the biggest upset of the sport by defeating Alvarez. However, fans feel that the boxer hasn’t been the same since.

The much-anticipated trilogy fight between Alvarez and Golovkin turned out to be a great hit among fans. The two first fought inside the ring in 2017, which ended in a controversial draw. Following that, they met again just a year later, and Saul Alvarez emerged as the victorious one. He proved his worth again in the recent trilogy fight. But fans believe all is not well with the champ. 

Canelo Alvarez reveals he is taking a break from boxing 

The Mexican king has been serving fans with some of the most exciting boxing performances for years now. He has not taken a break for a long time, but now seems ready for a much-needed sabatical.

He recently revealed that he has some injuries in his hands which have been causing severe pain. He further added that the problem started from the time he fought Caleb Plant. He tried to avoid it at first, but then it got more serious.  

Alvarez said, “And then I started [to feel] really bad, I need surgery. It was really bad, really bad. It’s not broken it’s a meniscus, it’s a wrist injury, not broken. It’s ligaments, like a knee injury or something like that… I’m going to take the time my body needs.”

“Last year I fought four times in 11 months, so that’s why. But I need to take my time a little bit, maybe May, September. I need to take my time,” he said.
