David Haye claimed that Mike Tyson has never overcome adversity in his boxing career. Recently, Tyson made the headlines for publishing insane training videos. “Iron Mike” plans on returning to boxing. However, he will only compete in exhibition matches to raise money for charities.
In his training videos, the 53-year-old boxer can be seen throwing some devastating punches on the pads. Tyson’s coach, Rafael Cordeiro even said that Tyson was hitting the mitts like a 22-year-old boxer. Moreover, Cordeiro stated that he was scared for his life while training Tyson.
Some critics and fighters respect Tyson’s move. But others like Dana White (President of the UFC), promoter Frank Warren, etc. believe that Tyson should stay retired.

David Haye on the career of Mike Tyson
On an episode of BBC’s ‘Greatest Fights’ podcast, former two-division champion, David Haye commented on Tyson’s career. The Brit claimed that Tyson never fought through adversity as a boxer.
“How many fights has he had where he was behind on points, where he got put down, hurt, and came back? That’s the question,” Haye said.

“I haven’t seen him get through many problems, ever. There was never a fight that I remember where Tyson was having some problems and brought it back around – the moment he started to lose or it got tough, it went the other way.
“Many fighters have had tough fights where they’ve been on the brink of losing and found a way, I haven’t seen that with Tyson.
“I find it hard to say someone is in the top five of all time [at heavyweight] if they have never had a fight which they were losing to come back to win. You can’t be an on-top fighter and win all the fights you’ve won, and never really suffer punishment and pain and come back to win.”
