Lightweight superstar Ryan Garcia doesn’t mind battling for the world titles on his return to the ring. Despite attaining the WBC Interim 135 lbs belt, Garcia couldn’t move on to bigger things due to troubles away from the ring. He also walked away from two scheduled fights against Joseph Diaz and Javier Fortuna.

‘King Ry’, in 2022, seems to have regained himself and is eyeing an immediate return to action. That said, he is optimistic about vanquishing unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. in a potential fight.

Referring to the matchup, Ryan Garcia told ES NEWS, “I do like that fight.”

“I would sell better than every single one of these guys. I win that fight, I knock him out probably within seven rounds.”

“Hopefully he wants it.”

“I make more sense. I’m coming off a layoff. He just got the belts. I just got the surgery. I’m the perfect picking.”

George Kambosos Jr. beat Teofimo Lopez in November 2021 in New York to put his hands on the WBC (franchise), WBA, WBO, and IBF lightweight titles. The shocking result has turned Kambosos Jr. into the biggest target at 135.

Akin to Garcia, WBC champion Devin Haney has also spun rumors about potentially facing ‘Ferocious’ in an undisputed clash. Despite all the interest, Kambosos Jr’s next title defense is still up in the air.

Will Ryan Garcia get an immediate shot at the world titles?

A long lay-off from action had cost Garcia his WBC Interim lightweight belt, and he is no longer a mandatory contender. Hence, an immediate title shot looks unlikely.
