WBA Super Featherweight Champion Gervonta Davis has been the talk of the boxing world for a couple of weeks. The former Mayweather promotions star will face Hector Luis Garcia in January. However, it is the drama surrounding him off the court that has made him the center of attention.

Davis recently revealed that he would not be fighting under Mayweather’s promotion and has even asked for termination papers from the promotion. Moreover, in an interview, Davis claimed that he would also like to help fighters financially before they retire. Despite that, one fan was not happy with Davis and called out his blatant cover-up.

The fan went on and called out Davis and stated that he was doing the same thing as his mentor, Floyd Mayweather. The fan claimed that Davis was trying to get into the management business but framed it as a way to help other boxers.

“Nothing but MFS always try to frame capitalism as “help” and “giving back” lol dude wants to make a gang of bread without fighting. It’s that simple.” he wrote, replying to a fan who defended Davis. This was not all, as Davis was also quick to respond to this fan, who seemingly got under his skin.

Davis even went on to respond to the fan and address his issues with him. In a now-deleted tweet, Tank sounded off on the fan and claimed that he had never taken money from any boxer in his career. He added that he only gave way for boxers to get the most money out of a match and give a platform for them to showcase their skills. Moreover, he even claimed that he knew what it was like to be mismanaged and how that felt.

There might be some truth to Davis’ statement, as he was under Mayweather for so long. However, in a sport like boxing where the business aspect of the sport influences it to a major degree, this approach might not work for him if he wants to become a promoter in the future.
