Deontay Wilder has surrendered before Tyson Fury twice in a row, losing his right to claim the lost WBC heavyweight title. However, the American knockout artist can still continue fighting to stage another run towards the world championship. It’s unclear whether we have seen the last of ‘The Bronze Bomber’ in the ring. However, Wilder can look at several potential names to craft his resurrection, especially when the heavyweight division is blooming with top-tier contenders.

That said, UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, has already shared his views on Wilder’s next possible fight against Andy Ruiz Jr. Rogan seemed excited to see the fight happen, as he labeled it as one of the most interesting matchups in the division.

In an exclusive chat with George Kambosos Jr., he said, “They are talking about matching him up with [Andy] Ruiz. Deontay [Wilder] and [Andy] Ruiz. That’s a great fight. I love that fight.”

Former unified world champion Andy Ruiz Jr. is undoubtedly a prolific fighter, who shocked the world by beating Anthony Joshua back in 2019. Although Ruiz Jr. lost to Joshua in an immediate rematch, he returned to the win column by outworking Chris Arreola in 2021. Ruiz Jr. seems one win away from earning a world championship shot.

Meanwhile, Deontay Wilder is not in a position to earn an immediate world championship fight. But a win will put him in the title conversation again. So, it makes sense for Ruiz Jr. and Wilder to lock horns in what can be a heavyweight feast for the fans. But several more contenders are also lurking over the title scene, which can hamper the Ruiz vs Wilder potential fight from happening.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ surely has limited options left after back-to-back losses against Tyson Fury. However, he is still a prizefighter and arguably the hardest-hitting puncher in the heavyweight division. Therefore, Wilder is still a threat to the other boxers. But Fury has clearly exposed his flaws in the game.

Henceforth, Wilder may choose to retire at this point. He already boasts a legendary resume of 42-2-1 with most of his wins coming via KO.

Wilder, therefore, is in a safe position to make his calls at will. But if he opts to remain active, it will clearly be great for the entire heavyweight division.
