“I Miss Getting Hit”: Oscar De La Hoya Reveals His Motivation to Fight Vitor Belfort

The exhibition bouts have become the latest trend in boxing. Also, these bouts have inspired the former legends of the game to lace up the gloves again and fulfill their wish of fighting inside the ring. But, on the other hand, some former boxing stalwarts like Oscar De La Hoya got even more inspired by these exhibition bouts and opted to make a professional return.

That said, ‘Golden Boy’ will make his appearance in a professional boxing bout after a long layoff of almost 13 years. He will enter a massive showdown with the former UFC elite, Vitor Belfort. Ahead of this fight, De La Hoya, who was involved in a press conference, gave his honest take on this bout and Belfort as his opponent.

He said, ”I have no s**t to talk about Belfort whatsoever. I respect you brother, like there’s no tomorrow. But I’ll tell you one thing, we’re gonna kick the s** out of each other. That’s one thing for sure and that’s what I’m actually looking forward to.”

“I miss that, I miss that getting hit for some strange reason, I miss getting hit. I mean coming September 11th, yeah it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

De La Hoya was in search of one noteworthy opponent for his professional return to the game. And accordingly, he got in touch with Belfort for his battle. Now, the pair will lock horns with each other on September 11 and this fight will unquestionably amass wide attention from fans and fighters around the world.

‘Golden Boy’ left the sport for good in 2008. Subsequently, he took up the role of a promoter and tried to bring in the best talents in the sport with Golden Boy Promotions.

But now, he himself is in a spot to pin himself as the best in the game again. However, that’ll only happen when he stays active, battles the best, and wins in style.
