“I Really Feel Proud” – Canelo Alvarez, Father of Two Daughters, on How Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Had an Impact on Women’s Boxing

History was made at Madison Square Garden on April 30 as Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano kicked off a new era in women’s boxing. It stunned the entire globe, and prominent boxing figures have spoken out about it.

In a recent question-and-answer session with Matchroom Boxing, Mexican boxing legend Canelo Alvarez provided some insights on the Taylor vs Serrano fight.

He said, “Yeah, of course, I saw the fight. It’s amazing, amazing. And I really like a woman put this kind of shows and this kind of fights, it’s amazing.”

“I really feel proud about that fight and congratulations to Serrano and Taylor. They did a really good job.” 

Canelo Álvarez talks about his kids’ future 

As the interview progressed, Canelo Alvarez was asked about the impact of this match on future generations, and how does he feel about it being a father of two daughters. 

He responded, “I feel great because I have two daughters, and that made me feel really good and happy. Because a lot more opportunities for women is amazing.”

Alvarez is the father of three children- daughters Emily Cinnamon, and Maria Fernanda, and son, Saul Adiel Sepulveda. The fighter, in addition to being a brilliant boxer, is also a wonderful father. Despite his hectic schedule, he takes time away from work to spend time with his family.

Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano was a delight

The historic Taylor vs Serrano match was sold out at Madison Square Garden. In what was considered the most significant battle in women’s boxing, both pugilists unleashed an amazing barrage of shrewd and deadly jabs.

From the start of the 10-round bout right till the final bell, the crowd was ecstatic. In the end, ‘The Bray Bomber’ won a decision and retained all her lightweight belts.

This Saturday, Alvarez will look to inspire boxing lovers with a sensational display against Russian pugilist Dmitry Bivol. Having witnessed Taylor vs Serrano, Canelo knows he will have his work cut out if he has to live up to the previous week’s mega-fight.
