The P4P king Canelo Alvarez had one of the best fights of his career when he stopped Billy Joe Saunders on May 8th to add the WBO 168 lbs title to his resume.

Coming into the clash, Alvarez was the favorite, and he unveiled a predictable performance by taking Saunders out. 56-1-2 as a 4-division champion, Alvarez is now the WBC, WBA, WBO, and Ring super middleweight titlist.

Moreover, he already holds 38 knockouts on his record, with the latest coming against ‘Superb’. While Billy Joe Saunders was a challenge for Alvarez, the Mexican star tagged his Brit rival as “easy money”.

After winning the fight, Canelo Alvarez and Eddie Hearn connected in the locker room. While Hearn applauded Alvarez’s victory, the champion made some bold statements.

“Hey, my friend, with all my respect, I told you, easy money. It is what it is,” said the P4P king.

He even inquired ‘Who’s next’, the same thing he told Eddie Hearn after vanquishing an unbeaten Callum Smith for the WBC, WBA, and Ring 168 belts in December last year.

Although he received Avni Yildirim back then, the victory over Saunders can land him another title unification fight.

IBF Champion Caleb Plant, 21-0, appears the most viable opponent for Canelo Alvarez at this point. So, that’s the matchup that can allure the P4P king to re-appear in action this year.

Canelo Alvarez and his next step

Matchroom Promotions and Canelo Alvarez can work together in the future with PBC joining the tide. Eddie Hearn has already started working towards an Alvarez vs Plant sometime this year. After a long camp outside the country, Canelo will probably return to Mexico.

Meanwhile, Michael Benson has revealed Eddie Hearn’s statement regarding the fight on social media. Per the tweet, Alvarez and Plant can square off on September 18th at the new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

While it will settle the undisputed unified super middleweight champion of the world, Alvarez vs Plant can be one of the most gruesome encounters of the coming days.
