In an interview with Tucker Carlson of Fox News, the unsatisfied Tyson revealed what he was trying to achieve apart from knocking out his opponent in the ring.
What did Mike Tyson reveal about his in-ring mentality?
‘The Baddest Man on Planet’ claimed that he was programmed in a way that the more you hurt them (opponents) the more people love you. He knew nothing more than delivering his art. That was the only trait by which he left his impression. He was a knockout machine in the heavyweight division.
So when Carlson asked Tyson if knocking out his opponent was satisfying, Tyson said, “I don’t wanna say but Kind of yeah.”
Curious, Carlson didn’t seem satisfied by Tyson’s reply, so he inquired further. He asked, “Why don’t you wanna say?”
To which Tyson replied, “It wasn’t good enough. At that time in my life, it wasn’t good enough. I wanted to crush the spirit. I wanna ruin everything he got to beat me. Feels like fire. If you know how to control it, it keeps us all warm. It heats food and everything. But if you let it out of control, it will destroy you and everything around you.”
‘Iron’ Mike is one of the most feared boxers in history. He is the youngest heavyweight champion ever. His style of boxing mingled with the aggression produced a dynamite that seemed irresistible in the ring.
