Boxing analysts knew very little of the Spaniard Sandor Martin. One of the things they did know was that he would be sharing the ring with a former four-division world champion in Mikey Garcia. However, what he accomplished on Saturday night in Fresno, California will have prompted the boxing world to dig up information about Martin.

In a shocking upset, the Spaniard ruined the comeback party of Mikey Garcia. The judges scored the bout 95-95, 97-93, and 97-93 in favor of Sandor Martin. The fight almost immediately shut the door on the Mikey Garcia experiment at welterweight.

Following his loss at the DAZN main event, Garcia reflected on his performance during the post-fight interview.

“You know, I thought it was a very good fight. He fought a very good fight. He was boxing. I thought I did the necessary, to close the gap, putting the pressure, looking for the fight. He was the one moving around, running around a lot. He was able to counter a few times, but I was the one actively looking for the fight.”

“I thought I was ahead on the cards, um, you know, it is what it is. That’s why there’s three judges and they decided he was the one winning the fight,” said Garcia.
