How often do things play out exactly the way people want them to? The answer is not very! In a similar twist of faith, Andre August revealed his career could have looked a lot different if not for certain choices he made. The 10-1-1 cruiserweight boxer is about to face off against YouTuber turned-professional boxer Jake Paul. The fight is scheduled to unfold at Caribe Royale Orlando on 15 December.
While Paul is coming off a massive win against Nate Diaz, the Houston resident is on a five-fight win streak. The upcoming fight against August is expected to be Jake’s toughest challenge since Tommy Fury. However, that’s not the reason August is making the headlines today! While appearing in an interview with Fight Hype, August shed light on his surprising football background.

Andre August claims he used to be a linebacker
During the interview, the reporter questioned August about his football background. In response, the Beaumont native revealed he used to be a linebacker, playing the sport from school to college, but got into boxing after college. “Yeah, linebacker, just a linebacker I played all the way from elementary school…I left from college and started boxing,” said August. He went on to claim that after leaving college, he wasn’t sure what to do in life.
“When I got out of college, I didn’t know what to do from there because I was lost in the sauce… just in the streets,” said August. Meanwhile, August claimed during this time, one of his friends highlighted his situation, which motivated him to join the gym. “That actually woke me up. I need to start boxing…I went on here and got my butt in the gym,” said August. While August is ready to face Jake, KSI is trying his best to draw attention to himself.
