“I Will Be the Last One Standing”: Shakur Stevenson Puts Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, and Other Boxers on Notice

Shakur Stevenson opened up about the excitement in the sport of boxing. With the lightweight division being one of the most exciting divisions at the moment, it provides a lot to look forward to.

The number of young, talented, and charismatic boxers adds to the bright future of the sport. Ever since Teofimo Lopez beat Vasyl Lomachenko, we have got to see a little of the drama that we may see for years to come.

The young, undefeated American, speaking on the “Last Stand Podcast” to Brian Custer, spoke about this. With a perfect record of 14 fights, 14 wins, Shakur Stevenson is probably one of the underrated young boxers right now. However, he is not shying away from the limelight. The southpaw who fights at featherweight was quoted saying:

“I think we’re all going to carry the generation, as far as Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez [and others] are concerned. I think we are all going to get better, better, and better.

“I just think that I’m going to be that one dude who’s the last one standing.” This shows the confidence of the young fighter. The former WBO featherweight champion of the world is confident in his ability to fight at the top, consistently, for a long time.

What’s next for Shakur Stevenson?

The former Olympic silver medalist has not yet confirmed his next fight. However, given his comments, it is safe to assume that he will move up to lightweight at some point.

It will be a different challenge at lightweight for Stevenson. He has shown he can box intelligently, but at a higher weight class, things are not the same.
