In 2011, Canelo’s coach had tweeted, “PARA SER CAMPEON SE NECESITA SER BUENO Y UN POCO MAS,PARA SER ESTRELLA DEL BOXEO SE NECESITA TODO!!!EL 5 DE MARZO NACE UNA!!! NEVER GIVE UP!!”

This translates to, “to be a champion you need to be good and a little more, to be a boxing star you need everything!!! On March 5, one is born!!! Never give up!!”

This tweet was before his first world title fight against Matthew Hatton.

Canelo Alvarez’s coach got the prediction spot on

Even though his coach made that prediction back in 2011, his words turned prophetic. Not only did Alvarez beat Hatton, he went on to become a global star in the sport.

He has fought in 4 weight classes and has held multiple world titles in these divisions. Needlesss to say, Alvarez’s team knew what a gem they had on their hands.

In 2019, Alvarez took a huge step towards doing the ‘extra’ bit in his bid to become a legend of the sport. He moved up to light-heavyweight and beat Sergey Kovalev.

While for the advice that his team gave, Canelo has followed it to the tee. Despite his setback against Mayweather, the champion fought back and never gave up. We can confidently say that Alvarez is on the fast track to boxing greatness.
