‘I Will Not Be Accepting Gifts on Christmas’: Floyd Mayweather’s Announcement Shocks the World

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather is known for his giving spirit, despite being one of the richest boxers in the world. There are many instances where the former 5-division champion showed his generous spirit in helping the ones belonging to his community. However, it looks like he won’t be accepting any gifts this holiday season.

In an Instagram post, he went on to reveal that he won’t be taking any gifts on specific holidays, including Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Father’s day. Moreover, he also went on to give his reasons as to why he was taking such drastic measures so suddenly.

Floyd Mayweather reveals he won’t accept gifts for holidays

Mayweather stated that he constantly provided gifts to the underprivileged because he felt like every day should be worth celebrating. Moreover, he claimed that holidays like Christmas and Valentine’s Day have now become commercialized, defeating their whole purpose.

“I will not be accepting gifts on Christmas, my birthday, Valentine’s Day, or Father’s Day. I constantly give gifts all throughout the year because I feel every day is worth celebrating and not just some commercialized holiday.” He wrote.

Furthermore, ‘Money’ also pointed out that people gave him gifts only on holidays because they were pressurized by society to do so.”Where’s the thought behind a gift if it’s only given on a holiday? You only think of giving me a gift when society says you should give gifts?” he added.

It seems that Mayweather is not happy that people only remembered to send him gifts during the holidays as he further went on to reveal why he despised getting gifts on holidays.

The boxing legend empathized with other people, stating that he understood why they won’t be able to give him the same gifts. However, he added that it was a thought that counted with a small gift given on a random day being more valuable than a lavish gift.

” I understand people can’t give me what I give them, but it’s the small thoughtful things that count. It’s all about reciprocation. The random gift on any given day is priceless, not the gifts I receive 4 times a year. I’m better than that.” He added.

The boxing world was quite shocked at Mayweather’s surprising announcement. However, they couldn’t express their dissatisfaction as ‘Money’ decided to disable the comments section of the post.
