Tyson Fury made one thing very clear going into the rematch with Deontay Wilder. The Gypsy King claimed that he would secure a dominant victory over the unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion. Fury even went ahead to claim a knockout victory for him in the rematch. And he did just that when these two heavyweight elites stepped into the boxing ring for the second time.

However, one loss was not enough to keep Wilder down as he was quick to ask for the trilogy fight as per the guidelines of the contract. This decision from Wilder surprised Fury since he lost every second of the rematch. Fury reacted to Wilder’s demand for a trilogy saying:

“Yeah, I was surprised he took the fight because it was a one-sided fight. He didn’t win a second of that second fight, but in this game, it’s a short game and a short career, and there’s an old saying – ‘We’ve gotta make hay while the sun shines,'”.

Though Fury beat Wilder convincingly in the rematch it can not be denied that the world did not see the best of Wilder that night. Now it is uncertain whether the heavy entrance costume played a huge role in Wilder’s poor performance that night. But, it goes without saying that Wilder was not at 100% even if he fought his heart out. Wilder does realize that and he is determined to come back stronger to the third encounter.

“No, I don’t have a reaction. No one should be surprised. I am who I am. I am Deontay the Bronze Bomber Wilder. And nothing gonna change about that. Like I said, this moment of time, we are just sitting back. There will be a time and place I am ready to come out. There will be time and place I will say what I need to say. But looking at the fight, he knows that was not me, I know that was not me, and people in the boxing, everybody know that was not real Deontay Wilder. something was wrong with him. There will be time and place where I will reveal a lot of things. I am looking forward to it actually.”
